A Japanese Garden in Lancashire

Writer's picture: Tamlin TaylorTamlin Taylor

The stone bridge links the house to the rest of the multi-levelled waterfeature in this Japanese garden (designed and built by us  over 18 years ago and lovingly maintained by the clients)

All the elements of Japanese garden design are here : water, rocks, stone paving, conifers, acers etc. The garden is generally shaded due to the large 200 year old oak tree, so planting has been limited to those that can cope with some shade. I comes alive in spring ,with an abundance of azaleas and rhododendrons, but generally has something of interest all year round , with good strong plant shapes even throughout the winter months.
